Brothers and Sisters – How Close Did You Watch Last Week’s Episode?

This past weekend I caught a little bit of Brothers and Sisters with my wife. I couldn’t help but to shout out at one point about a glaring error that I noticed. Unless you’re pretty observant, you probably missed it. Don’t worry, I’ll give you the details here and let you see for yourself.
The error occurred during the scene where Justin paid a surprise visit to Kitty. Kitty had just returned from hiking and was a sweaty mess. They talked for a while and the camera flipped back and forth as they spoke to one another. In one scene we saw Kitty speaking and her shirt was quite soaked – probably from her recent hike.

We then saw a shot of Justin as he spoke with Kitty, followed by another scene of Kitty. Take a look and see if you can catch the error.

Kitty 2
C’mon people! Did they expect us not to notice that? Who do they think they’re dealing with? To their credit though, the next time we saw Kitty, her shirt was back to being sweaty. Pretty interesting, huh? Keep your eyes peeled for stuff like this the next time you watch TV!

Grey’s Anatomy – How Real is This Show, Really?

My wife is a big Grey’s Anatomy fan; she’s been watching the show since the first season. I must admit, that I used to enjoy watching the show when it first came out. Sitting in my grandparents’ living room watching TV with several family members is one of the fondest memories I have of my grandparents’ house. In recent years, my interest in the show has dwindled. My wife remains a loyal fan and makes it a point to catch the latest episode..
Last week I was sitting in my living room while my wife watched Grey’s Anatomy and I found myself watching the show in bits and pieces. Now, I don’t spend too much time in hospitals (nor do I want to) but I’m curious as to whether some of the stuff that’s portrayed on the show really happens in hospitals every day. One thing that got my attention as I watched last week was a scene where Doctors Chatting3 doctors were operating on a patient and were talking about one of their homes. When I saw that, I thought for a moment and told my wife, “If I go in for surgery, I’m going to tell the doctors not to chit-chat over me as they’re operating. Just focus on the task at hand! Get in, get out and send me on my way.” I really hope that doesn’t happen very often in hospitals across America. Surgeries can be very serious and should be handled respectfully. Can doctors perform intricate surgery while having a conversation with another doctor?
Also, when was the last time you saw 2 doctors (or interns) fight over who would get to scrub-in on a surgery? If it happens in our hospitals, it’s not out in the open as we’ve seen on Grey’s Anatomy.
Overall, I think the show does a good job of giving us some insight as to what happens in a hospital from day to day. But it’s also a television show that needs to entice viewers to stay tuned. How many people would watch the show if all of the surgeries were shown without the added drama? Not many – they’d rather see Derek and Meredith have a lover’s quarrel while some guest star patient’s life hangs in the balance. My wife wouldn’t have it any other way!

Chef Ramsay Mixes Up the Teams and a Vicious Rumor is Put to Rest

Early on in the first episode, Boris boldly claimed that he was the strongest chef on the Blue Team. It was obvious that Vinny took that personally. It was decided that Boris would lead the team during the next dinner service. That didn’t happen. Boris had trouble getting the rest of his team to listen to him. He struggled in the kitchen for both dinner services and he got kicked out by Ramsay. I think the funniest moment involving Boris was when he was presenting his salad during one of the challenges. Ramsay Towel WipeHe might have been nervous, or it may have been warm in Hell’s Kitchen – Boris was sweating like a pig! Chef Ramsay’s reaction was priceless. He gave Boris a little signal to tell him that he should wipe his face. Check out Ramsay’s face!
A few interesting things happened this week. Chef Ramsay put Melissa on the Blue Team and moved Trev to the Red Team. That change gave Russell a chance to really step up and take more of a leadership role in the Blue Kitchen. Vinny and Nona were given the chance to help plate the dishes during dinner service, and the Red Team had to eat raw flowers after cleaning both kitchens. It was funny to watch Trev get on Sabrina’s case during dinner prep. Trev would not let up; he kept after her the whole time. That’s just what the Red Team needed – Sabrina is too lazy during prep, it was refreshing to see someone put her in her place. Also, I’d like to point out that the tease we saw about Sabrina making the Red Team’s lives hell didn’t come true. She didn’t sabotage the team like we were led to believe. Another reason why you can’t put too much stock in what we’re told about upcoming episodes.
Now, let me address a vicious rumor. I have been asked questions on this from several different people. The most notable being from my brother, how could you be so mean to Raj like that?” My youngest brother pointed it out during the first episode. “Damn, what are you doing on Hell’s Kitchen?” Needless to say – my wife laughed hysterically! When I think about it, I think it’s kinda funny too. Apparently, Trev and I look alike. I’ve been told that I look like previous contestants before. Ironically, by the same people that think Trev and I look alike. This time I think they are closer to the mark. Take a look at this comparison photo and let me know what you think. Trev n IAfter studying both photos you can clearly tell that I’m not Trev, and I’m not a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen. My cooking skills would have given me away before the first episode aired! I hope that Trev sticks around for awhile. I know he’s not truly a chef but I can’t help it, I like watching myself on TV!

Hell’s Kitchen – Raj is Attacked by His Team

Unfortunately, again, last week’s teaser turned out to be nothing at all. All the commotion we saw with all of those ambulances was just a ploy to get us to watch this week. It turned out that the chefs had to prepare breakfast for 100 EMTs; and apparently they all arrived in ambulances. Weird. It’s become somewhat of a joke around our house – “the most outrageous episode of Hell’s Kitchen ever” or for the first time ever on Hell’s Kitchen”. We’ve heard those teasers so many times that we shake our heads whenever we hear them.
During the breakfast service, Chef Ramsay was hoping that both teams would be able to focus on teamwork. The Red Team did pretty well overall; the women finished service and had to go to the men’s side to help finish theirs. From the men’s point of view, that’s humiliating! As punishment the men had to polish stemware and clean both kitchens. During the punishment they were all focusing on Raj and attacked him exclusively. He eventually had enough and got in Trev’s face, “you’re picking on me in a vicious fashion.” Even when he’s pissed off, he can still seem funny to me! He went on to call the rest of his team a “bunch of snakes”. Prior to dinner service he boasted to the camera about his cooking skills, “Google my name.” Well, I did! Here’s what I found. Raj EatingAt dinner service, in was in over his head and a lot of his food was not fit to serve. That didn’t stop him from enjoying it! Eat up Raj! The Red Team went on to lose the challenge and put Emily and Sabrina up for elimination. In classic Ramsay fashion, Raj was sent home instead. He definitely was out of his league, but I really like watching him. I’m going to miss him.
In the next episode, the chefs had to make ravioli from scratch, go head-to-head and have Chef Ramsay decide which dish he liked the best. Interesting tidbit: a few weeks ago my wife made ravioli from scratch and it was DELICIOUS! Thanks baby!! The men went on to win the challenge thanks to Trev. The rest of the Blue Team doesn’t respect Trev as a chef, so it was nice to see him do well. During the reward Trev let his team know that he’s not happy with the level of teamwork – he feels like he’s not really included. I think him telling his team the way he did will only alienate him from them. On the Red Team, Sabrina flat-out admitted to us that she’s not a team player. Are you kidding me? What do you think Chef Ramsay is looking for? It’s moments like these that make me wish that Chef Ramsay watches the segments where the chefs talk to the camera. He could learn so much. Heck, if it was my show, I would!
During dinner service Boris decided to wash dishes as his team was struggling. Needless to say, Chef Ramsay was not happy. He went on to comment on Boris, “What a Muppet.” At that moment, I thought – “I could see him as a Muppet.” muppet-chefOnce again, the women had to help the men during dinner service. Only this time, both teams got kicked out of the kitchen and Chef Ramsay finished with the help of Scott and Andi. Each team nominated 2 chefs for elimination and Louis was sent home. As the episode ended, we heard from Sabrina that she was going to make life Hell for the rest of her team. Yeah right, we’ve seen this before haven’t we? This is just another tease that will amount to nothing. I could be wrong though. Tune in next week and we can find out together.
